Well, we took a little longer than expected to get out of town...typical for us. But that's okay, we're not on a time schedule. We planned for many years to come to this event...and we finally made it. The best part about that is the timing was just right. For so many miles before the US 127 exit there were no hotels at all, that is coming from the east like we were. We pulled off on the main strip where the sales take place and checked a couple hotels...nothing...everything was sold out and every hotel said you won't find anything anywhere. They just didn't know us. We kept looking and found a hotel with one room left. The attendant said it was $110 a night. I got him down to $80 before we looked at the room. Can't believe I even went there with no rooms around. But... I hit him with $60 with tax included... the little clerk, said..."Okay, for you that would be fine".
As I was leaving the office two different people that came in while I was in there said, "you got the last room within a 100 miles". Wow. What a way to start out our Treasure Hunters Trading Co. excursion.
Tonight we're in a very cool hotel room. Much needed after the hot drive. But tomorrow night...I truly expect to find one of the sellers that has a camp site set up, who also plays the guitar, to let us camp with them and jam on the six guns. Idealistic...yep, super positive thinking...okay, but that's us. If you don't expect it, you can't get it...very often at least.
I don't know if we'll be able to get on line tomorrow night, but we'll down load some pictures in the morning that we took of some of our journey so far. We caught Woody, from Toy Story, Buzz Light Year, GI Joe, and an indian we haven't named yet, sitting on the dash board of the car whooping it up as we went through the mountains and a mountain tunnel in North Carolina. They really had fun...at least it looked like they were. But they heard us talking about the yard sale and started to freak. They fell off the dash and it took a long time to convince them that they were along for the ride...not the sell. I think they'll feel more secure tomorrow night when they see they're still with us. I hope so, because sometimes their chatter gets annoying. But what can you do.
Try to get the pics loaded in the am before we take off at the crack of dawn...first to the Waffle House for some bacon and eggs, and then to find our Treasures.
Can't wait to hear about all your finds. Any Gnomes or Lrprechauns?
